Press Preview A/W 2014

With the emergence of an actual summer in Ireland this year, the thought of dressing for the cold, dull and dreary days ahead are probably far from your mind right now!
However, we all know things can change fairly rapidly around here so it’s no harm to think ahead and plan the looks you will be rocking later this year!

This week I checked out two of the high street’s offerings for Autumnal dressing at the ever trendy River Island and brand power house Bestseller; covering collections from Vero Moda, Vila, Only, Name it, Pieces, Little Pieces, Noisy may, lmtd, Y.A.S, Jack & Jones, Selected Homme and brand new label Only & Sons.

First up it’s the go-to chain for stylish and affordable fashion, River Island. With 7 fashion stories on view for the ladies including Preppy, Luxe Traveller, Puritan, 60’s Pastel, Snow, Grey and Noir, the vast array of trends for next season will excite and delight you!
I fell hard for the Grey, Snow and 60’s Pastel trends; the pieces are so easy to mix and match with your current wardrobe and will liven your predictably dark palette this Winter. These softer tones on bang on trend, will flatter a multitude of Irish skin tones and serve as multi taskers in your wardrobe, giving you plenty of choice for work and play next season!

**Must-have Item!**
Watch out for the amazing leather pencil skirt WITH POCKETS in nude and soft grey! Perfect for the office or a night out, depending on how you style it! Pair with a cashmere knit and courts for work, or mix it up with a casual tee, Chelsea boots and plenty of attitude for the evening!

And now for the guys! RI have created 5 fashion stories for you to choose from; Generation X, Frequency, Vinyl, Blinders and Techno Folk. As ever, quality, style and value for money is synonymous with menswear at RI. Outfit inspiration comes from a mixture of vintage nostalgia and modern styling. Choose to update your look next season with rock and roll heritage, 90’s youth culture, geometric prints and large-scale patterns to name but a few!

**Must-have Item!**
Invest in your style, it will thank you in the future, I promise! No better way to do that than with the classic camel coat. You will take this out of your wardrobe year after year, it will cover a multitude of occasions and you will definitely be the best dressed gent in any room!

Next up is Danish brand Bestseller. Known for its fast and affordable fashion, this is another Scandi brand gaining followers on the Irish scene. With over 20 labels to choose from online and in stores nationwide, including brand new menswear range Only & Sons, there is sure to be something for everyone next season! I went along to view A/W ’14 show with MFI Magazine editor Adam Gaffey. Check out some of the snaps hot off the runway over here!

I’ve popped a few of my favourites from the River Island collections and some snaps from the Bestseller Fashion Festival event in the gallery below for you to check out.

Women in Business

CityWideTV focuses its attention on the subject of women in business in the first of a series of videos which showcases the scope and range of female entrepreneurship here in Dublin and the country as a whole. This time round we talk to Fashion Consultant and Stylist, Mairead Vickers as she gives us an insight into what it is to run your own business and throws a light on the often overlooked area of Men’s Fashion styling.
